[AZ] Living.

Arizona has been an absolute blast, although it has been ridiculously HOT! Yesterday was thee hottest it’s been, and registered at an astounding 124 degrees! Perhaps the heat was due to the black interior of my car—which has appropriately been named “Big Black” lol. Or, it may have genuinely been that hot outside. As a California native, you would think that I am accustomed to temperatures of this magnitude, but I can assure that you that I am NOT. Nonetheless, if you ever travel to Arizona, here are a few eateries/bars that you MUST check out:

  • Postino Central—I HIGHLY recommend their cucumber honey lemonade; drinking one glass of it is simply not enough. http://www.postinowinecafe.com. Address: 5144 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012.

  • Windsor– If you like meals that have a home-cooked feel with affordable prices, then Windsor is where you should eat! Their menu consists of a wide array of foods, and their cocktails are particularly tasty. http://windsoraz.com/menu/. Address: 5223 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ, 85012
  • Lustre Rooftop Bar– Interested in doing yoga despite the heat? Or maybe you’d like to grab a drink and lay poolside while watching the sunset over downtown Phoenix? If you answered yes to the above, check out Lustre Rooftop Bar. It serves amazingly affordable drinks, and provides a view that money simply cannot buy! http://www.lustrerooftopbar.com. Address: 2 East Jefferson St. Phoenix, AZ, 85004

Corner of [Realness].

Although I’ve enjoyed Arizona, I’ve experienced some challenges that perhaps I am not ready to face. To paint a clearer picture: this is the first time that I’ve been away from my family, and my beloved Los Angeles for a prolonged period of time. Additionally, there was never a reason/desire to explore things outside of California.

You would think that after all the traveling for interviews, I would be excited, yet instead I have been faced with feelings of loneliness.

I have no idea where they are coming from, given my family will be here this weekend, and  have connected with a friend or two since being here. However, these feelings are here, and it is something that I must face and overcome, given I still have a significant amount of time left in Arizona. Hopefully, I can have a time of introspection, so that I can identify my triggers. My ultimate goal is to identify triggers which will allow me to develop better ways to cope and express exactly what I’m feeling. If you’ve felt the same way, please feel free to share how you’ve dealt with your feelings. I would LOVE to learn from you all! 🙂

Guuurrl 124 degrees??!! How are you surviving? A measely 88 degrees and I start complaining Lol. I actually want to visit Arizona, well Sedona to be specific. I like traveling, experiencing new environments and the scenic, red rock canyons of Sedona is definitely on my bucket list. Glad to see you’re exploring Phoenix tho! I think just getting to know the city, exploring, and checking out local events helps with feelings of loneliness.

I’m surviving by the grace of God, and via tons of water lol! A few of the folks in my cohort are planning to go to Sedona next weekend, but I won’t be able to! 😦 I want to go sometime before I leave. If I can’t, then I’ll have to plan another trip to Arizona (when it’s not as hot of course!).

Hopefully exploring the area will help me to shake these feelings! Thanks for your feedback, Derin!
